DAY SEVENTY: ST LAWRENCE

DAY SEVENTY: ST LAWRENCE

Today we left Emu Beach. There wasn't much to do there or we would have stayed another night. We're only about 1,000km from Cairns with only a few stops to go.
Today's stop is a free site about 200km north of Emu beach. We didn't have much fuel as we set off we thought there would be a petrol station nearby. A turn out there wasn’t. I was starting to panic as the fuel gauge was on empty and the red light had been on for quite a while. I had a horrible feeling I would be walking to the petrol station. Eventually there was a sign for fuel. Thank God. It was obscenely expensive compared to anywhere we had stopped but we needed it but I put only a little bit in. After another 3km a Caltex emerged which was significantly cheaper. I filled it to the top. Good job we could fill up because the van had drank 58l from a 60l tank.

When we arrived at St Lawrence we were both amazed and disappointed, amazed at the fact it was so nice abut disappointed because we were hoping to come across a supermarket since we only have soup and eggs. Guess what our dinner was.
